Jacopo Taddei (born 1996 in Portoferraio, Island of Elba) is an internationally acclaimed classical saxophonist recognized for his virtuosity, expressive depth, and artistic versatility. Described as a “sax hero” by Corriere della Sera, he has rapidly become one of the leading figures of his generation in the classical music world.

His career gained momentum after winning the Claudio Abbado Prize and the Milan Conservatory Prize in 2015. Over the years, he has accumulated twenty‑six first prizes in international competitions, including CIM Barcelona, Gran Prix Povoletto, Salieri Zinetti, Luigi Nono, and Soroptimist International. A scholarship and fellowship from Berklee College of Music, awarded at Umbria Jazz 2015, further expanded his artistic horizons.

Taddei began studying saxophone at age eight and completed an accelerated academic path: graduating with honors at sixteen from the Conservatorio Rossini in Pesaro and later earning a Magna Cum Laude degree from the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan at nineteen.

He has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as I Solisti di Mosca, Orchestra UniMi, Divertimento Ensemble, and collaborated with major orchestras including the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala and the Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia. He has worked under renowned conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Antonio Pappano, Yuri Bashmet, and Daniele Gatti.

A major milestone in his recent career is his collaboration with the SIGNUM Saxophone Quartet, begun in 2022. With them, he toured Australia in 2023 and will return for another tour in 2025. Their album Chameleon was released in 2024 by Berlin Classics.

Since 2019, Taddei has served as First Soprano Saxophone at the Teatro Regio di Torino. He has performed worldwide, including New York, Miami, Stuttgart, Hong Kong, Argentina, Switzerland, Croatia, Germany, and Turkey.

His discography includes The Sound of Picasso, a CD for Suonare News, and Elegy with Orchestra Roma Tre. He is also a Selmer Paris Artist (since 2020) and recipient of the Medal of the Chamber of Deputies (2017).
Taddei has been featured in major Italian and international media and has premiered works dedicated to him by composers such as Christian Lauba, Francesco Libetta, and Vittorio Montalti.
